Our Leaders

Rick Carbonneau – Lead Pastor-Elder, Redwood City

Rick, originally from Southern California, came to the San Francisco Bay Area to pastor Berean Bible Church in 1998. In rediscovering the gospel’s centrality over all of life and ministry as well as a deeper love for Jesus and His mission in the world, he led the church in a new replant for this mission of God’s redemption in the Bay Area. He holds degrees from UCLA and The Master’s Seminary. Rick’s goal is to help plant missional churches as well as to unite like-minded churches for this purpose. Life is full with loving his wife, building relationships in the community through coaching High School Football and mentoring former homeless and addicts. He and his wife, LaRayne, built their own home and have four children.

Craig Forbes – Pastor-Elder, Redwood City (Oversees an MC in El Granada, CA)

Craig and his family have been part of the Half Moon Bay community for over 21 years. Craig made the transition into full-time ministry from executive management in high technology business. He has taken skills developed in starting and growing companies and used those in the local church. He was on staff full-time at Mariners Church as an associate pastor in 2005. He has served as executive, small groups, and youth pastor. Craig served in the USAF, receiving his officer’s commission at Lackland Airforce Base. He graduated from Bucknell University with a BSEE and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree at Trinity Seminary.

Craig and his wife, Kim (his friend, partner, and awesome gift from God), have two great boys. Craig and Kim have been married for 28 years and it just keeps getting better! Craig likes time with the family, playing guitar (Kim plays drums, Aaron plays drums and piano, Caleb plays bass), biking, running, and most outdoor activities. He’s mastered barbecuing and he and Kim love people dropping by. Favorite song: Frontline by Pillar. Favorite movie: Braveheart. Favorite verse: Romans 12:1, 2. Favorite sport: Football. He has a heart to see youth and adults grow in deep faith and love for God.

David Shearin – Elder-Pastor candidate, Executive director Street Life Ministries Redwood City

David experienced first-hand the struggles of addiction, and the reality of life on the streets. Since his own recovery in 2005, David has pursued a call in his life to serve those in brokenness and need. Since becoming SLM’s director in 2007, David has expanded the reach of the ministry to bringing a hot meal and the Word of God four nights a week in two different urban centers, as well as personally connecting hundreds of people to drug and alcohol treatment centers and shelters. Dave’s wife Shawn works alongside him, leading the women’s outreach. They are blessed with Isaiah, their son.  David is also in the process of becoming an ordained Pastor through RGC.

I have been leading worship for various churches and ministries since graduating for UC San Diego, and hope to do the same when I graduate to heaven one day! I have had the honor of leading worship for RGC since June of 2014.   I met my lovely bride, Moorea, on a blind date at a Bible study. Her long hair and eyelashes drew me in, but her depth of character won my heart! We just celebrated 14 years and look forward to many more!! We have three wonderful boys (Eli, Isaac and Lucas), and we LOVE being together as a family, making music with our family band Amazement Park, enjoying the outdoors, or even doing homework… not really.  I am a San Diego native and enjoy long walks on the beach with Moorea, but the mountains of Yosemite and Tahoe rank right up there as well. I also love teaching guitar to kids of all ages, as well as hooping it up with my boys, watching the Chargers underperform year after year, and just being a boring ol’ homebody.  SOMETHING I LOVE ABOUT RGC:  I love that RGC is a repair shop, and not a showroom. It’s a church of people sincerely seeking Christ and willing to admit they need Him. Every church should be like this!
